Esparciendo Ritmo en Derredor - Bob Howard

ESPARCIENDO RITMO EN DERREDOR" is the equivalent of "SPREADIN' RHYTHM AROUND", and we hear this tune played by Bob Howard and his Orchestra, much in the Waller vocal style by the way, and often surrounded by good jazz musicians of the period. The sound comes from Odeon 284108 and was recorded in NYC 10 Feb. 1936.

Dulce Lorena - Nat "King" Cole Trío

The famous Nat "King Cole" waxed 6 Feb. 1940 in Los Angeles with his trio this version of "SWEET LORRAINE", labeled "DULCE LORENA" in this Argentine Decca 333387 issue. This was when Cole still played jazz and was not devoted to popular singing.

A Mi Mamacita - Orquesta Ben Bernie

Another curiosity from local issues: This is a non-vocal version of the standard USA Brunswick version of the same "To My Mammy" recorded about March 1930. If well not listed in the Jazz Discographies, the inclusion of a hot solo in place of the vocal adds even a stronger jazz sound, anyway present from the start of the record, a fine one from the well known Ben Bernie Orchestra.

Cow Cow Blues -Bob Zurke y su Banda de Ritmo Delta

A remarkable recording from Bob Zurke's Delta Rhythm Band: "COW COW BLUES", labeled in spanish "Bob Zurke y su banda de ritmo delta". His leader was much praised by Jelly Roll Morton as being a pianist with a superb left hand. The sound comes from a copy of Arg Victor 26646, waxed May 8, 1940 in NYC.

Cristobal Colón - Bob Crosby y su Orquesta

This recording by Bob Crosby and his orchestra from a copy of Odeon 286206 titled "CRISTOBAL COLON" is no other than "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS" recorded in NYC March 19, 1936, one of the Swing Era classics.

Estoy Loco Por La Bocina Del Automovil - Adolfo Carabelli

This is by one of the best of the local Jazzbands, and the tune is no other than "I'm Wild about horns on automobiles", in a less comic vein than other USA bands used to play (Fred Hall, for example), attaining a more serious approach of a title anyway not well suited to the jazz idiom. Recorded 18 January 1930 in Buenos Aires

El Baile De Los Negritos - Benny Goodman

A big band recording by one of the most famous orchestra leaders of the time: the "King Of Swing". This "Darktown Strutters' Ball" issued here sure struts and has also the polished sound of Goodman's Columbia period with all the new sounds of this later-swing style. Recorded in NYC, 15 Jan. 1942.
