Canción de septiembre - Héctor y su Gran Orquesta de Jazz

"CANCION DE SEPTIEMBRE" played by "Hector y su gran Orquesta de Jazz" is the spanish translation for "SEPTEMBER SONG", waxed circa Feb. 1952 in Buenos Aires, and comes from a copy of Victor 68-0255. This big band recorded extensively around this period, so will upload in the future some more with jazz merit.

Baby Won't You Please Come Home - McKinney's Cotton Pickers

A superb recording from the band led by Don Redman, The Mc Kinney's Cotton Pickers: "BABY WON'T YOU PLEASE COME HOME", featuring his own vocal, recorded in Camden, July 28 l930 and from a copy of another local pressing, Victor 62-0084-B.

Indiana - Art Hodes y su Orquesta

This one is a good example of the revival style that started in the early forties, Art Hodes and his Orchestra, featuring the leader's barrelhouse piano , and the clarinet of Rod Cless, much in the Teschemacher vein. Recorded in NYC March 17, 1942. We hear his version of "INDIANA" from a copy of Odeon 286227-B released in Argentina.

China Boy-Red Nichols y sus Cinco Peniques

A powerful version of this well-known Jazz classic: "CHINA BOY" waxed by Red Nichols and his Five Pennies. The sound comes from a copy of Brunswick 4877, recorded in NYC, 7 Feb. 1930

Sensation - Joe Venuti

A fine Jazz classic from the finest violin of the period and one of the various small groups he assembled along with his friend Eddie Lang (both of Italian origin). In this issue, the main title is in English and the sub-title in Spanish, at odds with the previous seen. Recorded 27 Sept. 1928. Collectors will note how the "Veroton" logo at the left of the label resembles the "Electric" logo of the USA Okehs.
